Planning Application Submitted

Welcome to the consultation website for the redevelopment of the old Notts Industries Saxonvale site. After nearly a decade of lying empty the site is due to become the home of the first major town centre investment in Frome for a generation. Located just to the east of Frome town centre, Saxonvale is a large vacant industrial site recognised as a priority redevelopment opportunity by Mendip District Council.

As planned, Frontier Estates has recently submitted a planning application for part of the Saxonvale site.

Have the proposals changed?

Frontier Estates consulted widely on the emerging proposals earlier this autumn, the level of resident involvement resulted in a huge amount of valuable feedback. Since the consultation the design team reviewed the proposals, resulting in significant changes to the scheme in response to the key issues raised.

The scheme has changed in a number of ways including:

  • A new service road to reduce the amount of traffic on Vicarage Street;
  • Realignment of proposed new shops to create a more seamless link to the existing shops in the Kingsway Centre and M&S;
  • The main public square is now larger, creating an improved social and civic space.
